McGinnis and Associates LLC completes field work for cultural resource studies for the Yerington Paiute Tribe
In an effort to protect tribal resources from releases from the Anaconda Mine CERCLA site, the cultural data collected by McGinnis and Associates will be used to refine document review and for use in risk assessment for the tribe. This project gives the Yerington Paiute Tribe the capacity to compare site actions with what is required to protect resources that may be unique to historic and cultural practices. Funded through the EPA Superfund program, the project seeks to build the volume of Tribal Environmental Programs to be effective stakeholders in the CERCLA process.

McGinnis and Associates LLC implementing Strategic Energy Plans for Lake County Tribes
In 2008, McGinnis and Associates LLC began providing technical support to develop strategic energy plans for five federally recognized tribes in Lake County, California. Through a DOE funded program at the Robinson Rancheria, M&A is now implementing those programs through its partner company, Sunkiss Solar LLC.
As an important first step, all of the homes managed by the Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake Tribe now have solar panels installed with no charge to the residents. This project will make the Habematolel Pomo Tribe one of the first tribes in the country, if not the only, to be all-solar for the homes they manage.

Uranium in Groundwater
Maps showing uranium concentrations in groundwater continuous from the Anaconda Mine Site and reaching local drinking water wells were provided at the September 24th public meeting. In a well received presentation, Project Managers and Scientists from EPA discussed current data and ongoing investigations to improve the understanding of mine waste contamination of groundwater north of the 3,400 acre mine site. Currently, 79% of the wells tested north of the mine site have levels of arsenic and/or uranium above MCLs and, because the water is unsafe to drink, many are provided with bottled water by the Responsible Party, British Petroleum.
