Dietrick McGinnis PhD, PE, CEM
Founder, Chief Executive Officer, Professional Engineer, Nevada Certified Manager
Dr. Dietrick McGinnis is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of McGinnis and Associates. In addition to being a Professional Engineer (PE, Environmental) and Nevada Certified Environmental Manager (CEM), Dr. McGinnis earned his PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno. Dr. McGinnis has over 25 years of experience in environmental consulting during which he has developed economic, energy, and environmental programs for both industry and government. His projects frequently include characterization and assessment, remediation design, stormwater program development, watershed and wetland restoration, and water and wastewater treatment. Over the years, he has been involved with government to government relation assignments including Tribal Governments, NRDA, and Superfund technical support. Dr. McGinnis has guided monitoring programs for water, soil, plants and air including mining, radiological and pesticide assessments and drinking water/wastewater treatment systems.
Sarah Peters, EI, CEM
Chief Operating Officer, Certified Environmental Manager
Sarah specializes in regulatory permitting and compliance with experience in land-use planning and environmental permitting with federal, state, and local governments. Sarah expertise includes project management with a variety of project types including Climate Change Assessment, wetlands delineation and permitting, National Environmental Protection Act assessment and compliance, California Environmental Quality Act assessment and compliance, and Nevada stormwater permitting and compliance. Sarah's expertise is in both Tribal technical assistance and industry projects in Nevada and California. She has additional experience in conducting Phase I environmental site assessments for residential and commercial development projects and has previously worked with local and state air districts on permitting and compliance for local and regional projects. Sarah has developed key project documents including climate change vulnerability assessments and adaptation planning, resource management plans, wetland redevelopment projects, emergency response plans, emissions inventories, and database development for environmental data management to meet EPA STORET data management standards.
Loren Secor, CEM
Environmental Specialist II
Loren Secor is an Environmental Specialist II with McGinnis and Associates. He received his BS in Ecohydrology at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2019. Loren had previously spent time working with the Washoe Tribe Environmental Protection Department and the Carson Water Subconservancy District through the AmeriCorps program. At McGinnis and Associates, Loren currently assists with a variety of client projects including water quality data management, Phase I environmental assessments, renewable energy studies, and GIS mapping. Loren additionally helps with managing EPA Brownfields program development for Tribal clients and is working to incorporate the use of drone technology to enhance the aerial mapping of important study areas.
Gino Calderoni
Environmental Specialist
Gino Calderoni is an Environmental Specialist working with McGinnis and Associates. He received his BS in Environmental Science from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2022. His focuses at UNR included restoration ecology, spatial analysis, GIS technologies, and environmental policy. Through UNR, he worked on several projects involving spatial analysis, his favorite being a Southern Nevada desert tortoise population distribution analysis in which precipitation patterns and hydrogeography were used to test potential clusters of tortoises. At McGinnis and Associates, Gino is responsible for a range of tasks from client-related projects to office administrative tasks.
Nathan McGinnis
Office Assistant
Nathan McGinnis is a student at University of Nevada, Reno pursuing a major in electrical engineering. He is a hard-working professional able to undertake a variety of office support tasks and maintains the company office space with a high standard of cleanliness that exceeds pandemic recommendations. It is his goal to maintain a healthy and safe work environment in the office for any employee and guest.
Caitlyn Hoon
Environmental Specialist
Caitlyn Hoon is an Environmental Specialist working with McGinnis and Associates. She received her BS in Environmental Science from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2023. While at UNR, Caitlyn worked as a Student Reseach Technician at the Newingham Lab (within the USDA's Agricultural Research Service), with a primary focus on seed bank analysis of Mojave invasive grasses and their interactions with pesticides. Along with program support and collaboration with the team, her specializations extend to GIS technologies, and she's constantly finding ways to integrate and expand mapping capabilities for a wide range of projects at McGinnis and Associates.
