A Statement from the Cahto Tribe
As a Tribe with deep ancestral ties to this land, the Cahto people, along with our residents, possess lived experiences that inform our understanding of the issues at hand. Our concerns are not rooted in mere opinion but are shaped by generations of history and an enduring connection to the land. We reside here, and we will remain here, just as our ancestors have done for centuries. Our primary aim is to secure justice for future generations, so that our descendants may inherit a world in which they can live on healthy lands and breathe clean air.
The purpose of this meeting is to provide an update and to ensure that the voice of the Cahto Tribe is included in this ongoing dialogue. We respectfully request that the sovereignty of the Cahto Tribe of the Laytonville Rancheria be recognized and upheld. For clarity, please note that we are not affiliated with the Laytonville Alliance for Environmental Justice.
